Listen to your gut!
The gut and mind are more connected than you might think. In fact, the gut is often referred to as your "second brain". Research has shown that the two are deeply connected via the brain-gut axis, a two-way system where neuro signals flow back and forth via the vagus nerve, affecting everything from how we feel emotionally to how we think.
Your gut is home to trillions of bacteria, known as the gut microbiome, and many of these little guys play a huge role in your mood and mental health. For example, did you know
The surprising ways in which stress can show up
We all know that stress can be overwhelming, especially when you’re juggling a busy schedule or dealing with life’s challenges. But did you know that stress doesn’t always show up in the obvious ways, like feeling anxious or having a racing heart? In fact, stress can sneak up on you, hiding in places you might not expect. Feeling those January Blues?
I get it—January can be tough. It’s cold, dark, often wet and windy, and definitely not the kind of weather that invites outdoor adventures. Our vitamin D levels are probably on the low side, which can lead to a bit of a dip in mood—SAD, anyone? Some people escape it all with a winter sun getaway (I’ve got friends soaking up the Caribbean sun as we speak... not jealous at all).
I don’t mind January, though—it's not my top pick for the year, but I think it has its charm. During these colder months, we naturally slow down. Think about it: animals hibernate, and while we can’t exactly do that, we also take a step back. It’s part of our natural rhythm. Plus, the TV offerings this time of year are often some of the best! I’m currently hooked on Playing Nice on ITV and The Traitors on BBC, and I’ve got a long Netflix list to keep me busy.
Overcoming Post-Christmas Burnout with a full body reset
The holiday season is often a time of joy, celebration, and families spending time together. However, once the festivities have ended, many of us are left feeling mentally and physically drained, struggling to adjust to normal life. This feeling of exhaustion can hit hard and leave us wondering how to recover.
Post-Christmas burnout refers to the feelings of fatigue, stress, and overwhelm that many people experience after the holidays. While the Christmas season can be a magical time, it can also bring with it a lot of pressure. From buying gifts to attending social events, cooking meals, and juggling family dynamics, the energy demands can lead to mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion.
